hi all...I'm writing this from the beautiful town of Salmon Arm - I don't think Sal and I are coming back! The view from Mel's place is fantastic, and today we spent the day at the beach, basking in the 32degree weather! It's a wonderful vacation so far! In a little bit, we're going for pie which is about 5 inches tall! Life is wonderful in B.C. this week...talk to you all soon!
p.s. wish you were here!

so I'm trying to come up with things to keep you all busy while I'm gone...this is a funny website I found with some pretty funny commercials! Sorry I couldn't do more for you while I'm gone!
ahhh...the last day of work before a vacation always seems either really long, or really relaxing - today is relaxing! I'm not going to get much on here during the day today (sorry ladies!!) but I'll get some more on later tonight so that should keep you satisfied for the week I'm gone.
I love you all!
~cb
ok ok...I know...this will
probably be the last...at least for tonight...
Ok - I know it's late now and you have all left - so maybe that's why I think this is so funny! will be back with more tomorrow!
~cb
so I had quite a laugh reading the results from the superhero quiz. thanks guys! not much going on in my life, except I went for a physical yesterday and got a prescription that is going to cost
$118!!! I still can't believe it! so don't forget everyone that Taste of Edmonton is going on tomorrow night and we can all meet at my place! hope this works out for you...I'm also thinking of changing the look of my blog - the template I mean. we'll see how bored I get today and if I'm feeling creative or not!
ciao...cb
I'm a little sore in the neck and shoulders today, and I think it's from our hide-a-bed when we were watching movies, so this is going to be short. I'm adding a little fun to this posting today!!! Enjoy!
if anyone can get out to see the Retreads play basketball this week, you should. If you can't get out, you should at least watch the documentary next spring on
A-Channel. I had such a good time this weekend, and those women are
so inspiring - some of them hadn't seen each other since they played together 45 years ago! very very cool!
So you know hockey players have had too much time on their hands when they start punching out girls! Katie was out on Whyte Ave. this weekend when she was teasing Chris Dingman, a player for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and he ended up decking her on the side of her head. Then after her friend stepped in, Dingman hit her too! Man, are some guys assholes! What guy hits a girl on the side of the head, whether she was bugging you or not! Geez....
Sal and I have started a new eating regimen, and i think I'm going to be really hungry for a really long time. If anyone wants to go for lunch this week, I'm owed a meal at Mongolie Express (sal...grrrr.....) so let me know!
Have a good one!
~cb
Actually, I don't really have much to be bummed out about, I just realized that this is going to be a very non-relaxing weekend. I'm working on a documentary during the world Masters for today and tomorrow, then sunday I'm at Save-On all day! I guess this just means that when I finally get the most anticipated book of my life, I'll be able to read it all weekend without a twinge of guilt! Oh...sweet Harry Potter...so hopefully you all have a good weekend...talk to you soon!
~cb
p.s. look for me at the opening ceremonies with a women's basketball team! and tracey and mom: look for each other, as well as sal!
p.p.s. wedding plans are coming along slowly...I have picked out my flowers, though! now we've just got the dresses, the cake, dj, food...oh my god.....
ok I admit it...at save-on last night I read the first 11 pages of the new Harry Potter. I couldn't stop myself...it was taunting me right there on the rack (and besides - it was REALLY dead!) I'm ashamed and saddened by my lack of willpower, but on the bright side: my book is now in the air and on its way to me! I think I'm the only person in edmonton now who hasn't read it now. so DON'T SPOIL IT!!!
that's about it for now...sal and I have
majorly cleaned up our place, and I can't believe it's true, but I actually threw shoes out! anyone remember my red moon boots? they are now in the trash. I'm actually quite proud of myself, but it's like a little piece of me died yesterday when the zipper completely fell off of them...sigh...I'm thinking garage sale-ing on sunday?!? you know what I really love about the english language now? almost anything can be made into a verb now. "I'm 'google-ing' you" "I'm going 'garage sale-ing' tomorrow". I love it. And yes,
I am a dork!-cb
Just wanted to share in some really happy news this morning. Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson are getting remarried. When I get the invite I'll let you all know, but just know this: I can only take one person and Sal is out cause he'll just be staring at her boobies the whole time. But I'll do what I can.
-cb
I just bought Harry Potter on line....there's probably a good chance I could pee myself before it gets here...I just had to share it...oh yeah and I did buy the American version...I'm such a sucker!
man, I am really losing it. I'm in the darkroom this week so I haven't had the chance to get on here, and I apologize. I'm so so hungry today...sal and I are starting a new eating regimen which he promises won't starve me. half the time I can't decide if I'm going to gorge myself every day or wither away to nothing. I can't believe I haven't bought the new Harry Potter book...I've got to do it within the next day or so or else I'm going to lose all of my willpower and ask you all what happens in it - so DON'T TELL ME! hope you all had a nice weekend...hey jeaninne! did you know it was sal and I waving at you last night by kingsway? I had
another what sal would call a Nouf moment...hit my head on the butter door this morning and cut myself pretty bad...it's bleeding already. man...I really am a disaster!
ciao...casey
"The next time it begins to rain, ... lie down on your belly, nestle your chin into the grass, and get a frog's-eye view of how raindrops fall.... The sight of hundreds of blades of grass bowing down and popping back up like piano keys strikes me as one of the merriest sights in the world." - Malcolm Margolin
no real posting today...I'm headachy and tired, so may this quote stimulate you for the rest of the day and make you think of me in the grass!

"Freedom is an indivisible word. If we want to enjoy it, and fight for it, we must be prepared to extend it to everyone, whether they are rich or poor, whether they agree with us or not, no matter what their race or the color of their skin." - Wendell Willkie, 1892 - 1944

~I have already put up 37 postings
(this will be #38)~the thought of visiting my grandparents is a very satisfying one!
~I don't think I get more excited about anything more than I do about a new book being published (for example...ummm...HARRY POTTER!!! THIS SATURDAY!!!)
hope you all have a wonderful weekend...thanks for keeping up with me!
I can't say enough how much I enjoy this humid weather we've been having...and I'm being totally serious! It feels like my skin is being cleansed each time I step outside! sal and I saw 'war of the worlds' last night, and it was much scarier than either of us expected! quite a chilling movie, and I didn't even mind tom cruise in it! we're starting to get ourselves prepared for the Grand Prix that is happening 5 minutes away from our house - trying to figure out plans for the weekend so we won't have to be around for all the noise! anybody up for a day at Elk Island Park this weekend?
I hear Bud the dog has been quite enjoyable at the Becker house, despite the happy little 'accidents' every once in a while...apparently dad enjoys being the
ALPHA MALE around the home...he's the only one the dog doesn't bite! oh, little buddy! so let me know what you're all up to for the weekend and let's get together...the idea of checking out garage sales is another popular idea! I haven't gotten any good junk lately!
-cb
so as some of you may know, I got spoiled on my birthday this year, and one of those gifts was a new mp3 player...today's posting is a breakdown of some of my favourite songs I've downloaded so far:

'keep it loose keep it tight' by amos lee (I'll get it to you soon, Tracey!)
'delicate' and 'looselily' by damien rice
'the littlest birds' by the Be Good Tanyas
'Neighbourhood #1 (Tunnels)' by the Arcade Fire
'Close to you' by the Cure
anything off the 'In Between Dreams' cd by Jack Johnson

no real posting today...going out for brekkie and lunch so I've got to run already.
thanks to those already for the birthday wishes...I really appreciate it!
love ya...cb
p.s. I've added some more stuff on here like a constant word and art quote of the day - check them out daily!
a perfect quote for an almost perfect summer thursday afternoon:
"To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment." -Jane Austen
wonderments of the day...1. how does one (or many people) decide they're going to bomb a city? better yet, a bus carrying a bunch of people?
2. how a little dog that I haven't even seen yet has already given so much joy to my family and me!
3. that the cutest thing I've seen in a long time was our maintenence guy watering the lawn at work wearing a little summer straw hat!
4. that breakfast with friends can start a perfect friday!
5. that really, after all, a 25th birthday isn't too terrible, especially when it will be spent with those you love!
ok everyone...here he is....the Becker's new pet...Bud!!!
ok, so I've been a bit of a slacker lately with this...I need to shape up or ship out! spent last night with a girl I went to school with at NAIT who just had a baby and moved into a new house. it was a lot of fun, and I think Cole is really just the cutest baby around right now! also watched Coach Carter which was better than I thought it was! so I'm pretty sure my birthday extravaganza (and I use that term loosely!) is going to be happening this saturday night, and I'm pretty sure the new dog will be there!!!! the beckers are really excited! i'm taking my b-day off on friday and am going to relax and enjoy the company of myself for as long as I can.
hope everyone has a wonderful hump day!
so we've got some exciting news around the Becker household...my parents have gotten a little dog!!!!!! yes, that's Bud, my parent's new grand-baby. they were getting awfully sick of the grand-fish I suppose. yayyyy!!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!
it has been decided...camping two weekends in a row is just too exhausting! and that falling on a glacier is sometimes just not worth the photos! I've come back tired and sore...but other than that it was a nice long weekend! hope everyone else had a nice canada day celebration! not much happening this week...it's a four day week again for me, as my birthday is on friday and i plan on doing nothing but reading and maybe watching a movie or two...then saturday night is the celebration so get your party shoes on! so that's my little life in a nutshell for now...keep in touch!
